The Bombay High Court has ruled that an insurance company is liable to pay compensation to an accident victim's family, even if the licence of the driver of the offending vehicle had expired. A bench ordered ICICI Lombard General Insurance Co to pay compensation to the family of a woman who died in an accident in November 2011. The insurance company can recover the compensation amount from the owner of the offending vehicle later.
