BANKING

Fitch Ratings reports that the operating environment for Indian banks has improved thanks to the easing of pandemic-related risks. A number of prudent indicators are strengthening when compared with pre-pandemic levels. Fitch revised its operating environment mid-point score for Indian banks to ‘bb’ and expects earnings buffers to benefit the sector, with operating profits around 2.8% of risk-weighted assets.
